How has the market been for your division over the past year?

The market has been fast paced with a surge of IT roles becoming available.

We recruit at all levels of IT including Support Roles, IT Consultants, Project managers, Developers, Business Analysts to Head of IT.  It is a very exciting time if you are looking for a new role.

What trends do you see developing in your marketplace? What future roles do you think will be more in demand?

As the sector is fast-moving and dynamic, we are seeing more recruitment needs within the small and medium sized companies (SME’s) within the IT industry.

What are the biggest issues for candidates in your marketplace?

At present it seems to be much more of a candidate driven market, flexibility of working has now become more of the ‘norm’ for people deciding to work from home/hybrid and fitting around a work/life balance.  Employers are now having to be become more flexible on salary, flexibility of working and benefits to attract and retain the right people.

What are the biggest issues for clients in your marketplace?

Candidates now have more of a choice when it comes to flexibility of working including remote and hybrid roles.

Candidates have much more choice when it comes to salaries being offered, clients need to factor in increasing salaries due to the rise in the cost of living if they haven’t already.

What advice would you give to candidates?

We at Bond Williams are calling you to help you find the right role, if the initial call/email is not the right job for you – don’t dismiss the idea that we haven’t got something else that suits you.  As a team we would like to work with you to find your ideal role, we understand that we all have different motivators.

After reading the job descriptions and applying for a new role, send a profile of your experience/skills to match that job, this will enhance your chance of standing out from other candidates.

As a candidate we love to hear back from agencies/recruiters – the same goes for us at Bond Williams. If the role is not right for you or you are unable to attend an interview, please let us know. Trust goes both ways and if you build a relationship with your recruiter, they will always work even harder with you.  Trust the process, it will work.

What advice would you give to clients?

Communication is key, build a relationship with your agency.  Always make sure that the candidates selection/interview process is quick and feedback is always given.  We understand that everyone is under pressure and extremely busy but by just sending an email this can make the whole recruitment process run so much more smoothly in helping to find the right candidate and get them onboard.

Never be worried to ask for more details on candidates before dismissing them from the application process.

Look at what your competitors are offering with regards to flexible working, salaries, benefits etc – it is a candidate’s market so little tweaks can mean great end results.

How long have you been in recruitment and why have you stayed in it for so long?

I have worked in recruitment for 7 years; I took a little break while I had a career change and I am so excited to be back. I absolutely love to offer ‘someone the job’.  We all know how exciting it is when you find yourself a new job and to be part of that process is the ultimate buzz.  I love building new relationships with both client and candidates.  To just listen to someone can make a huge difference to their experience.
