Hannah, you are new to recruitment. How have you found the market in the time you have been with Bond Williams?

Having only joined the Office & Commercial division in the past 3 months, I can already see that there is a constant shift in the market. When I started, we had a high flow of new jobs and a lack of candidates however, now it has balanced out and we are finding more candidates that are suited to the jobs we have onboard.

What trends do you see developing in your marketplace? What future roles do you think will be more in demand?

The constant demand for hybrid working is around to stay and I think this will always be a strong benefit to joining a company from now on. There are also more candidates looking for part time roles to accommodate family situations and searching for a better work life balance.

What are the biggest issues for candidates in your marketplace?

At the moment, candidates are struggling to find roles which fit their needs with the rising cost of living. They are searching for roles which are local to them or offering remote/hybrid working rather than having to pay out in petrol costs. There are some great opportunities & companies for career development however this is being overlooked by the initial salary requirements and benefits.

What are the biggest issues for clients in your marketplace?

As we are returning to a new normal, clients are needing people to return to office-based working. As candidates are searching for more hybrid-based work patterns, clients are struggling to find candidates to accommodate their needs. Also, as mentioned above, the cost of living is rising and there is a high demand in salary increase requirements which some clients cannot accommodate. Therefore, clients end up losing out on a great candidate.

What advice would you give to candidates?

Try to keep your options open. If you have multiple interviews arranged, it’s always best to go to most of them so you can get a good feel for the company, the benefits offered and if you feel like you would be a good fit for the role. The more opportunities you have, the more likely you will find the right role for you. It’s also good to compare the roles you have interviews for and work out if there is room for development as this will benefit you in the future and open further opportunities.

What advice would you give to clients?

Find the time to look at candidate’s CV properly and to be open-minded about what they can do. Look at their transferable skills and see if they can be useful within your company.

How long have you been in recruitment and how are you finding it so far?

I joined recruitment 3 months ago but so far so good. I’m enjoying how fast paced the role is and meeting different characters every day.

What do you like about working at Bond Williams?

What I really love about working at Bond Williams is that there is a strong team environment. Although the work force is split into different departments, everyone is always there to support each other & they are happy to do so! Because of this atmosphere, I feel it’s possible to achieve anything at work.

What do you do to relax?

I love to go on long walks, spending time with family, paddleboarding & kayaking (weather dependant) and going to music events.

What would people be surprised to know about you?

I spent the last 4 years travelling Europe, doing ski seasons and a lap of Australia living out of a car! Forever thankful for that experience but onto bigger and better things.
