Division: Accounting & Finance
Role/Assignment: Head of Finance
The Challenge
The client was creating a new Head of Finance position and needed an experienced finance leader who could help shape and manage the organisation’s financial strategy.
Because the position had not existed previously, the Financial Director was uncertain whether the proposed £65,000 to £70,000 salary would attract candidates with the required level of experience.
The role also needed someone who would integrate successfully with the existing team and organisational culture.
Our Approach
During a detailed meeting with the Financial Director, we explored the scope of the new role and the level of candidate the organisation wanted to attract.
Based on our market knowledge, we recommended increasing the potential salary to up to £80,000.
We also reviewed the wider package and confirmed that the existing benefits and bonus arrangements were attractive.
The revised salary required approval from the organisation’s European parent company, and we supported the client in positioning the case for the change.
Once approved, we conducted a targeted search through our finance network for candidates with the strategic and leadership experience required.
The Outcome
The revised salary range helped create a stronger candidate pool.
The successful candidate exceeded the client’s original expectations, and an offer reflecting their skills and experience was made and accepted.
