Our client is a highly successful next generation manufacturing company who offer challenging and rewarding work in a collaborative environment with exceptional progression and development opportunities for their Engineers.
The team is building bespoke controllers for a range of aerospace applications and are currently seeking a highly motivated Embedded Systems Hardware Engineer to support the design and testing of these controllers. The role involves taking existing development controller configurations and developing them into production ready solutions, refining functionality and improving reliability.
The ideal Embedded Systems Hardware Engineer will be have strong expertise in embedded hardware development and also ideally have some familiarity with the firmware design principles.
Embedded Systems Hardware Engineer key tasks:
- Design and develop hardware for electric motor controllers including component selection, schematic capture and PCB layout
- Rapidly implement hardware solutions for onboarding new engine ancillaries
- Contribute to the testing of the controller to ensure reliability and robustness
- Work within a fast paced, agile development team in collaboration with other engineers and
- Work collaboratively to solve complex problems with innovative solutions
Essential Criteria:
- Strong technical background working with embedded systems hardware design
- Degree in a relevant engineering field (2:1 or above), or equivalent experience
- Excellent understanding of PCB design best practices and principles, from component selection and schematics to layout
- Exposure to both the hardware and firmware design projects
- Highly effective communicator who encourages innovation through collaboration
Desirable Criteria:
- Familiarity with:
- STM32 based platforms
- PCB design and layout for highly stressed environments
- Electric motor controller design
- The use of C or C++
- A basic understanding of turbomachinery including operating principles and control variables
