How has the market been for your division over the past year?
It has been very busy from a client point of view but there is a huge shortage of candidates. The consultants are having to educate the clients about this and having to get companies to re look at their benefits to make their roles attractive.
What trends do you see developing in your marketplace?
What future roles do you think will be more in demand? The trends we have definitely seen over the last year is working from home and hybrid roles. There is not a particular trend for certain skills but all areas of accountancy seem to be recruiting and short of staff. Practice candidates have notoriously been hard to find and in this marketplace, it’s making it a lot harder.
What are the biggest issues for candidates in your marketplace?
Candidates are becoming more demanding about what they want from a role, they mostly now all want working from home options and flexibility on hours is very important to them too.
What are the biggest issues for clients in your marketplace?
For clients their biggest issue is finding the right candidate. They are having to look at their benefits and provide working from home options and increasing holiday entitlement, not only to make their roles more attractive for new candidates but to retain their current staff.
What advice would you give to candidates?
To identify the key criteria that is important to them and be honest with recruiters. To also be prepared for counter offers and remember why they wanted to leave their current positions in the first place.

Be flexible! But also to move quickly when they do see a candidate they want to interview.
How long have you been in recruitment and why have you stayed in it for so long?
I have been in recruitment for over 25 years and I have stayed in it for so long because it’s never the same from one day to the next and I have always liked the people that I have worked with in this industry.
What do you do to relax?
I do body combat twice a week and punch all my frustrations out! and I do yoga and enjoy spending time with friends.
What would people be surprised to know about you?
I have recently taken up wild river swimming!
