A pioneering manufacturing company with its roots at Oxford University are currently recruiting a Senior Development Engineer to spearhead the industrialisation of vapour chamber manufacturing for a highly sought after blue-chip client list.

Senior Development Engineer responsibilities:
- Own all vapour chamber process steps: vacuum fill, dry-out and bake, laser micro-weld or plug-seal, and helium mass-spectrometry leak testing.
- Define process flows and acceptance criteria from NPI through to stable production, covering parameters such as surface roughness (Ra), flatness, CTQs, and leak-rate targets.
- Translate experimental and development findings into robust, repeatable production specifications.
- Develop and scale manufacturing processes for high-volume production, removing bottlenecks and integrating inline inspection.
- Lead automation-readiness initiatives including leak-test fixture design, crimping and closing tooling, vacuum-line improvements, particle-control workflows, and cleanliness standard development.
Senior Development Engineer Key requirements:
- A relevant degree and proven hands-on experience in manufacturing or process development, with a track record of taking processes from lab or pilot scale to stable, high-yield production.
- Deep practical knowledge of vacuum processes, laser micro-welding and micro-joining, helium leak testing, mass finishing, and chemical surface treatments.
- Proficiency with DOE, SPC, MSA, PFMEA, and control plans; strong data analysis and statistical rigour (Cpk/Ppk).
- Experience in fixture and jig design with DfM principles.
