Two in three firms struggle to recruit
The CIPD’s most recent resourcing and talent planning survey has revealed that two in three organizations are not finding recruitment easy. The results also demonstrated that attracting and hiring vital staff is the main resourcing goal for 79% of almost 500 companies that were surveyed. Those companies who are planning a freeze on recruitment this year has dropped by almost half, compared to last year (22% vs. 42% in 2009).
Just over half of the companies (53%) who participated in this survey admitted that the recession has negatively impacted their resourcing budget for 2010.Claire McCartney, CIPD resourcing and talent planning adviser, comments: “Limited budgets mean organisations and HR departments have to think creatively — doing more for less is not so easy. However, by developing internal talent pipelines employees can benefit from increased opportunities, development and progression and the employer can fulfil the skills requirement for the job.”
