Sunday 15th May saw more than 1,000 runners gather at Brockenhurst College for the annual Oakhaven Hospice Colour run. For the second year running, Bond Williams were proud sponsors of the charity run which saw the runners cover four laps of the college’s field while volunteers threw cups of multi-coloured powder on them as they passed through the four paint stations.
Proud sponsors: The Bond Williams team at their paint station
Claire Bond, Director at Bond Williams said:
“As always, we are so pleased to be able to support such a great cause which is close to the hearts of many of us at Bond Williams. The colour run was a lot of fun for everyone involved, the sun was shining and we were proud to be sponsoring the run for the second year running. A big thanks to the team at Oakhaven hospice for making it such a success .”
The result was a colourful spectacle and ended with a mass paint throw once all the runners had completed the race. All the money raised through the event will be donated to the Oakhaven Hospice Trust based in Lymington, a community based service providing specialist palliative care to patients facing a life limiting illness, running a traditional Inpatients Unit, Day Hospice and Hospice at Home Service.
Paula Cheshire, the events fundraising manager at Oakhaven, said:
“Last year was our first one and we had about 600 people doing it last time so we have had an increase. “The whole point is to get covered in colour and it has been absolutely brilliant. “They all start with a white t-shirt and they go around and get blasted with colour. “They come for the fun and the colour and they do a good thing for Oakhaven which is a lovely cause and close to a lot of local people.”
