At Bond Williams, we are currently seeing a high demand for a variety of roles within our specialist Accounting & Finance division, many of which are being driven by developing technologies, changing regulation and business growth in the area.
Calculating, recording and processing employee pay is a fundamental requirement for any business, whether they are handling it in-house or using an accountancy practice. The experience and qualifications required varies, so there is likely to be a role out there whatever level you are at in your payroll career. A key focus, however, is on using initiative to automate processes and a good understanding of emerging systems and technology.
Responsible for chasing and recovering outstanding debts and dealing with the sales ledger, credit controllers need to be able to build strong relationships with customers to secure payment as well as internally – particularly with sales teams because they may be the person who prevents products or services being delivered if payments are not made. They will also be required to carry out credit assessment and come up with strategies to mitigate credit risk.
These roles are often needed for businesses with a high volume of purchases that need processing and monitoring. In a nutshell, clerks and supervisors will be in charge of company spending, overseeing the purchase of every product and service that a business buys. It involves dealing directly with suppliers, checking and reconciling month-end statements and requires great attention to detail, bookkeeping experience and the ability to work to regular deadlines.
We have many opportunities for junior accounts assistants looking to build on their experience across a generalist role. It’s a great way of getting to understand the various systems and processes that companies adopt while working out if there are areas you would like to specialise in. We also have some more specific accounts assistant vacancies too.
Usually requiring a strong background within a practice environment, Audit Seniors will take the lead in carrying out audits in line with annual plans. It is generally based at client premises so some travel will be involved. Excellent engagement skills, working knowledge of International Auditing Standards and ACA/ACCA qualifications will often be required.
Many companies are looking for good management accountants at the moment to help them understand financial implications of business decisions. The role can be standalone within a department or involve managing a team and responsibilities will include the preparation, development, analysing and forecasting of financial data. As well as being great with figures and programmes such as Excel, you will need to be able to explain your findings clearly.
This is another area of specialism within accounting that is in high demand. It can also be highly varied and therefore, rewarding. Many of the roles available at the moment focus on personal tax, but there are also opportunities for tax seniors who want to work on business/corporate tax and advisory work. Understanding current tax law is essential.
