Workshop Technician – Pay £12/hr – Abingdon

Temporary

A temporary Workshop Technician is required to cover Paternity leave by an innovative and growing production company in Abingdon with solid foundations in regulated precision fabrication and welding. The Workshop Technician will:

  • Maintain the high level of Health and Safety for everyone within the premises
  • Ensure laboratory is clean and safe at all times
  • Complying with the Company Safety, Health and Environmental procedures and appropriate legislative requirements (RA writing / review, contractor / visitor control, investigation, hazard / incident / accident reporting etc)
  • Independently operate machine shop equipment, including lathes, mills, saws
  • Carry out planned maintenance on machine shop equipment
  • Oversee and manage the processing of customer samples including booking in and raising job cards for test pieces received from customers
  • Preparing specimens and samples
  • Preparing the test fixtures and test articles required as per test plan
  • Supporting the local manufacture of small test fixtures and support hardware
  • Following and ensuring strict safety procedures and safety checks.
  • Experience of using measurement equipment: micrometres, dial gauges and callipers.
  • Use of CNC mills and lathes.
  • Experience of machining aluminium and steel parts with fine tolerances and surface finishes.
  • Conducting ‘housekeeping’ exercises to ensure samples are logically stored or disposed of.
  • Perform regular maintenance of the test equipment
  • A willingness to learn and develop new technical skills to become a well-rounded Workshop Technician.
  • Good problem-solving skills and a creative approach for new ideas.
  • The ability to adapt to changing circumstances and to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Computer literate and have good working knowledge and experience of Microsoft Word and Excel for preparation of documents for reporting purposes.
  • Report processing and equipment issues to the senior management.
