Pulsed Power Engineer / Scientist – £Competitive – Oxford
We are recruiting a Pulsed Power Engineer/Scientist for a scientific research company in Oxford that span out of the University. The Pulsed Power Engineer/Scientist will be responsible for the design and operation of the machines required to develop experimental projects.
Projects will range from developing pulsed power machines to complex load design, simulations and development of machine and experimental diagnostics. All will require novel approaches in design, construction and use of materials. Further responsibilities will include:
Using schematic capture, circuit simulation and other modelling packages
Providing expert engineering input into multidisciplinary teams
Producing analysis and calculations of design work
First class degree in Physics or Engineering or equivalent, with significant industrial/academic experience.
Skilled Micro-Cap, COMSOL and SolidWorks user.
Five years’ experience working with pulsed power systems.
Experience developing and using x-ray and machine diagnostics.
Ability to perform calculations and analysis associated with electrical engineering.
In depth knowledge of health and safety matters relating to pulsed power systems.
Passion for fusion and for taking a bold approach to a high-risk transformational technology.
Fast and effective problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
Demonstrated self-motivation, enthusiasm to work in a dynamic team environment and evidence of taking the initiative.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Practical engineering experience.
