A Finance Manager is required for an Educational Trust based in Weymouth. Reporting to the Deputy Finance Director, you would have responsibility for two secondary academies and this would be a full time, term time contract plus 3 weeks.

You will ensure that the finance function of both academies runs smoothly and providing support to budget holders together with developing and implementing improvements to finance systems as required.

Other key duties:

  • Responsible for income and expenditure
  • Assisting with budgeting and forecasting
  • Preparing monthly payroll, dealing with travel and overtime claims, staff absences
  • Management of the accounting function including processing and payment of all goods and services, raising invoices, collection of income, petty cash, bank reconciliations and other related finance duties
  • Liaising with stakeholders and budget holders
  • Providing support to the Deputy Finance Director as required
  • Assisting with placing and monitoring of service contracts, tendering, premises letting and business planning

Qualifications and experience:

  • Achieved or studying a finance qualification (e.g. AAT) or qualified by experience
  • Strong IT skills including Excel – essential
  • Able to work quickly and efficiently to tight deadlines and good communication
  • You must be versatile, flexible and adaptable to work in this fast-paced environment
  • Proved track record of solid all round accounting knowledge
  • Previous experience of working in a school would be desirable
