Urgent replacement needed after candidate pulled out

The client brief

A space technology company in Harwell Space Campus in Oxfordshire called Bond Williams asking our specialist team to help with a problem. Using their own resources, the client had spent several months recruiting an Operations Manager for their organisation. Unfortunately, shortly before the new employee was due to start, they pulled out after accepting a counter-offer from their current employer. As we are a specialist recruiter for the space technology sector they asked Bond Williams to come to the rescue and help them recruit a new Operations Manager as an urgent priority.


The Bond Williams approach

After receiving the full job description, we arranged a call with the hiring manager at the space technology company to discuss their criteria in more detail. During the call it became apparent that this was a key role for the organisation and that they needed to find a new Operations Manager as a matter of urgency and that it was not going to be an easy task. But we love a challenge and got to work immediately. With no time to advertise the job via our usual channels and wait for candidates to apply, our specialists in space technology recruitment took a proactive approach and utilised their contacts and unrivalled network of candidates to call upon.

A shortlist of suitable candidates from our talent pool was put together and we provided a full job description and a client profile to each of them for consideration, also emphasising the urgency. We then discussed the role in detail with each candidate and gained their qualified interest. Four candidates were submitted to the hiring manager for consideration.


The outcome

The very same day, the client came back and offered interviews with three of them. The client was thrilled that we found the perfect candidate who was available immediately. The whole process, from the original request from the client to the candidate accepting the role, was just seven days. The client said: ‘First of all, thank you for responding to our requirement so quick, you really did smash it!’ We were so pleased to have had the opportunity to show this client exactly what we can do and strive to offer the same outstanding level of service every time.


Since initially applying for the role, I cannot say how much I have appreciated Hannah's complete and utter professionalism in assisting me throughout the assignment as she has continued to update me on the process and status of my application whether it be 'positive or negative' reporting - something that in my experience with recruitment companies is absolutely unique - both in the UK and throughout the MENA Region and having been both an 'internal and an external' client and have dealt with numerous similar recruitment organisations with unsatisfactory results!.
