The client brief  

A Group Head of Compensation was required for an international brand based in Poole. The current employee had been promoted so the new post needed to take on a team of three who worked on rewards and benefits.

The successful candidate needed a proven track-record of dealing with compensation and share plans. Ideally, knowledge of general HR practices and procedures was desirable as well as knowledge of legislative requirements in respect to compensation and share plans in multiple countries.


The Bond Williams approach

We used traditional recruitment roots such as job boards, but knew there would be a limited talent pool within this sector who had specific experience, so widened the net. As well as searching LinkedIn, we created a headhunting project. However, it became clear that the candidates we approached had much higher salary expectations that the client was willing to pay. We fed back to the client and had an honest conversation while continuing the search.


The outcome

A very suitable candidate was found via LinkedIn and approached. After a few conversations and a lot of perseverance with both the candidate and client, we were able to facilitate an interview and subsequent job offer at a higher salary than the original brief.
