Research by talent assessment solutions provider, SHL, reported that over one quarter of in-house professionals have needed to appoint additional stuff due to increasing demand. The survey used more than 500 in house recruitment professionals across a range of sectors, 12% of which reported recruiting two or more additional staff.
One in four employers has included additional parts to their recruitment processes, in order to eliminate unsuitable candidates. 70% of respondents have introduced further processes for selection for example increased entry requirements (28%), more detail at the beginning of the application process (26%) and realistic job previews (24%).18% of employers now find that their methods have become too much of a burden for applicants, which could harm the business even more. Out of these respondents one in ten state that candidates are put off from even applying, with 20% stating that it had lead to longer periods of filling vacant positions and nearly a quarter (23%) stating that candidates are accepting roles from other companies as a result of the long and complicated application process.
